Over the years, headlights have evolved with cars, and today they present several technologies that make them illuminate the path. They also identify objects, other cars, people, cyclists, and even animals on the road, guiding the driver of the best possible way about what’s ahead.
Today there are not just two or three types, but several bulbs or light projection devices for cars. However, some lighting systems are an integral part of complex optical assemblies, such as full LED headlights or LED or Laser matrix.
In the others, bulbs for sale on the market can be purchased separately for replacement by defect or even increase the lighting power of the vehicle, as has become common in recent years.
Car headlight bulbs are divided into halogen, LED and xenon. Each of them has different brightness intensities, colors, and also varying costs. They also have specifications for several car models.
This bulb uses xenon gas to increase the color intensity, covering a spectrum from 6,000 K to 15,000 K, but from 3,000 K (hot), it can use in fog lights or daytime running lights.
In vehicles that leave the factory with this bulb, 5,000 K usually used. From 5,000 K pure white to 15,000 K ultra purple (cold), passing through bluish tones reflected in the asphalt, the variation in the intensity of light colors in the Xenon headlights are huge.
On the internet, it is possible to sell bulbs of 30,000 K and with different colors, prohibited by law.
With an extremely high beam of light, an unregulated xenon headlight can blind and not dazzle a driver coming in the opposite direction. Because of this, the inspection observes exactly the exaggerations to prevent the practice of installing this equipment improperly.
Although LED is a very old technology, cars have only recently adopted it. It started with the so-called DRL’s or daytime running lights, which gained illuminated contours for aesthetics and, in some cases, to replace the low beam of the headlight during the day. Even in this case, the law allows you to travel on the road during the day with that device.
Then the LED started to appear on the low beam with h7 led bulb and then on the high beam h4 bulb, even reaching the full LED, which is a set with several light diodes acting individually or in groups, depending on the technology.
But in this case, its level of sophistication is such that only the complete set of headlights can be purchased. Prices vary widely, being comparable to xenon in many cases. It all depends on the brand and the light intensity. These bulbs usually offered with 6,000 K. The advantage is that they consume little energy.
Halogen is the most common type of automotive headlight bulb. Some reach 3,500 K, and the yellow color is common, being incandescent. Super White, for example, are also halogen but have more intense color and brightness. It is cheap and widely used in the auto industry today.
